Newborn Shoot

Newborn Baby

Those early days with your newborn are so precious and so fleeting. Those tiny details change so quickly, and they transition into a sitter, crawler, walker, talker in a blink of an eye.

I want to capture those details for you, I want to give you timeless images to cherish and look back on, to remember those early days.

Not only do I want to capture your brand-new baby but I want to capture you and the quiet, calm, still moments you have together. The cuddles and kisses, the swaying and rocking, and the way you hold your baby so naturally in the crook of your neck.

My images aren’t the typical sit and look down the lens of the camera kind of images. They are about capturing the connections between you as a family

They are candid and artistic.

They are images that should be framed and hung in your family home, your own unique art gallery, which your friends and family will admire as they enter your home.

My newborn shoots can be outdoors or indoors, depending on what kind of look and feel you want out of the images.

They typically last around 1.5 hours, however I don’t have a time cap on my newborn shoots, as I know it may be a cluster feeding day or your baby may be unsettled. You don’t need to feel rushed or panicked. I will wait until you and the baby are ready and until we have captured what we need.

I send a style and colour palette guide to all by clients, once they have booked and can be on hand to discuss outfits to get the best out of your images.

FAQs

How old does my baby have to be?

I tend to photograph newborns between 7-12 days old but I also love to organise lifestyle sessions when the baby is a bit older. It entirely depends on what stage you want to capture them at.

Maybe you want the curled up sleepy stage or maybe you want to capture them when they are a bit more awake and alert. Either way, I am game.

Can I have my partner and other children with me?

I love nothing more than capturing the love and emotion between mums and dads and encourage dad to be in some of the images.

I always reassure dad that my style is natural and he won’t feel cheesy or posed during my sessions. Toddlers and older children are welcome too! Those newborn and toddler captures are my favourites!

Should I have my hair and make-up done?

This is entirely up to you. Some women decide to do their own hair and make-up, whilst others have it done professionally. I say do what makes you feel the most comfortable. I do have a hairdresser and make-up artist who I can organise for you and who I recommend.

How will I view my images?

Following your shoot, I hand edit every image with love and upload your images to your own personal online gallery. You can then choose your favourites for print, depending on the package you have chosen.

How do I prepare my home?

I suggest to all families that they look around there home and find out where the most light is streaming in at various times of the day.

Minimum clutter in the background is desirable but I know how difficult that is with a newborn so I can do some rearranging if need be once I'm there.

Keep the house warm enough for the baby to be warm enough to be nude in some of the images, as these make for very cute photographs.

Have the baby be nice and full of milk before I arrive so we can get those milk drunk shots. Some vases of flowers add that something special to the shots, so see if someone can pick you up a bouquet before hand!
