It's been 10 weeks since I left the UK to start a life in NZ with my little family and we have startled to settle into our new way of living.
Things seem slower paced and less urgent. I don't have that familiar feeling of what's next? or where to now? like I always have, feeling more able to enjoy the present day.
I've always loved scoping out my local areas, wherever I am, for family shoots and it's been great having the downtime to do that, as well as establish my wall gallery collections for my clients; without the other pressures of running a business, and as the work starts to trickle in, I have a new and revived energy for this job I have carved out for myself.
I had the pleasure of photographing a family the other evening in one of the spots I discovered recently.
Jasmine and Michael are actually from the UK coincidentally! Both teaching in a quaint little school and living the dream in Matakana.
We met at Island bay, in Beach Haven, in the early evening. Clearly I still need to get on to these tide times as the troopers had to wade into the water with their 9month old to get to the little patch of beach left - Nothing like a bit of ocean spray to set the mood.
Jasmine humoured the artist in me and walked knee deep into the water with her bubbly little babe in her arms, whilst I snapped away as the light danced off the water.
Their little munchkin was an absolute joy, searching for and finding the camera with those piercing blue eyes of his.
Thank-you for trusting me to document these early days with your gorgeous boy.
I hope your family in the Uk enjoy looking at them as much as I loved taking them.
