Congratulations on taking action and booking a brand shoot! Brand shoots are amazing things for your business, and for building a personal brand, and can really make you stand out in the market as a professional.
But now you’re wondering how to capture natural brand images. I have you covered! I’m going to go over all my tips and tricks for having the perfect natural brand photoshoot that fits what you want your brand to represent!
So, the first step to capturing natural brand images is seeing what others have done. Head over to Pinterest and explore brand shoots others have done.
Doing some research before will help you feel inspired and get an idea of what brand shoots look like, what kind of poses others are doing, and what kind of props they may use.
When doing your research, think about what kind of energy you want your brand to give off. Do you want to come across as formal, or more of a casual, friendly brand?
Capturing the authentic you is all about being true to yourself. Although doing research is important to gather inspiration, the end goal is to represent your true self.
If a full business suit isn’t your thing, then don’t wear one! Be authentic by wearing something that represents you and what you feel good in.
The more authentic you are, the more confident and comfortable you will feel, and that really will shine through your photos creating the natural brand images you're looking for.
If there is something that is iconic to you and people relate it to your business, try and involve it! For example, if you’re known to be working with a Starbucks always in hand, go and get one. Personal touches are always nice to add to your natural brand shoot.
Posing is hard and doesn’t come naturally to a lot of people, but with ‘unposed posing’, you’ll look like you’ve been doing this for years! This is all about just doing things and letting your photographer capture those perfect moments.
For example, to capture natural brand images, you could pretend you’re talking on the phone (or if you want to be really authentic, give someone a quick call!) to give that business owner energy! Talking on the phone isn’t a hard ‘pose’ as it’s something very natural we do, but it is such a classic shot for brand image and always turns out beautiful!
The main thing is not to stand there and actively try to pose, as this can result in unnatural-looking brand images.
Linking on from unposed posing, capturing candid moments is what that is all about. Candid shots are photos taken ‘off-guard’ and these tend to be the best (and my favourite!) for natural brand shoots. Candid is all about incorporating some kind of movement.

Looking around is so important for capturing natural brand shoots! Giving the camera a hard stare straight down lens is such a no-go for these kinds of shoots.
Instead, look up, left, right, wherever and I promise you, you’ll get the most beautiful shots.
Disclaimer, this doesn’t mean you can’t have some shots looking directly at the camera, but just make sure you get a good variety of different angles!
